Hello my name is Helen and I am joining the North Star Cancer Collective's LEAG as parent and carer of Erin, my 12 year old daughter who is undergoing treatment for Ewing Sarcoma. Along with our lived experience of cancer treatment as a family of four, I also bring knowledge from my career in the NHS, of improving healthcare using lived experience and innovative approaches.
Whilst I am incredibly grateful for the care my daughter has received, the evidence is indisputable and the mission clear - the system is failing to care holistically for children, young people and their families through cancer treatment and beyond.
I will share our experience honestly, as a parent and for parents, with a steely determination to support the North Star Cancer Collective’s ambition to ensure every child, young person and their families who face cancer, face it with the information, tools and support they need at every step in their journey.
