She/Her

When the North Star Cancer Collective launched, I was struck by the power of collaboration. Members working together will make the future of cancer care better for children, young people and their families and I am excited to now to be part of this.

Our four year old son, George, died when his treatment options for high-risk rhabdomyosarcoma ran out. After experiencing the devastating impact of childhood cancer first-hand, I wanted to get involved in positive action for change. Being an active PPI member and fundraiser for CCLG has been a good life motivator and supported the grieving process. This involvement has driven me to learn more and want to be further involved.

I am driven by learning and research, including the valuable insights from lived experiences, which led me to apply to be a member of The North Star Cancer Collective Lived Experience Advisory and Action Group. When patients, parents/carers bring their experiences of cancer care - away from a clinical setting - to the fore, they can influence and guide projects. These insights will help shape improvements for the future.

I will bring strong communication skills, a desire to learn and collaborate. Together we will take a stand and speak up for children and young people diagnosed in the future and their parents/carers. We will ensure their voices are heard.

I hope to achieve lasting change with others led by the same purpose. I am excited to drive change, influence decision making and help shape the system/services around cancer care for children and young people. Let’s get started!
