My name is Michelle and I'm joining the North Star Cancer Collective's LEAG because I feel passionately about improving care for cancer patients across the UK. As a patient myself, a volunteer for various cancer charities and a mental health professional working closely with those with long term conditions, I feel I bring a unique perspective to the team and am looking forward to providing insight which will lay foundations for positive change in this community.
Since being diagnosed and treated for Hodgkin's Lymphoma in my teens, I have strived to advocate for others such as myself or those facing similar difficulties as I believe cancer care should extend beyond medical requirements.
Cancer is a life changing diagnosis and the impact it has on individuals socially, mentally, and physically requires patient driven care and empathetic approaches in order to provide holistic, patient centred support.
